Concept

Biomedicine is recognized as one of the priorities for national research investments according to the Smart Specialization Strategy for Research and Innovation.

BioMedPharm project aims at development of National biomedicine research platform addressing public health challenges in RIS3 domain in line with the mission statement of the State Research Program - improving access to treatment for reduction of mortality or morbidity rates and improved health conditions through the development of medicinal products and their manufacturing technologies, transport forms and vaccines, repurposing of marketed drugs, the drug discovery and development, as well as the identification of new biomarkers and the development of a precision medical solution.

By uniting 6 major players in the biomedicine ecosystem in Latvia, the project provides significant advantages in fostering the development of innovative products. It includes merging existing competencies and research infrastructure, reducing defragmentation, and coordinating multidisciplinary research.
